Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin condition that results in thick scaly patches of skin. Particularly affects the scalp, palms, soles, elbows, knees, nails and back. Lichen planus is another inflammatory skin condition. Results in bluish-grey itchy rashes all over the body and sometimes in the mucosal areas.
Treatment options are vast and depend on the specific presentation of the condition. Extensive lab tests may be required to determine the underlying metabolic condition. It may range from simple creams and lotions to systemic medications. Collaboration with a rheumatologist or an internist may sometimes be necessary. Psoriasis currently has no absolute cure but many treatment options are promising in suppressing the condition for many years.
Lichen Planus can be intensely itchy and can last for many weeks. Nails may also be involved and can cause cosmetic disfigurement. Treatment mainly involves creams, lotions and oral medications (in more extensive cases).
