Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

It is a stepwise procedure in which the pulp (nerves and blood vessels) of badly decayed tooth is removed, pulp canals are cleaned and filled to prevent further infection within the tooth. A series of instruments are used for the same treatment. We are providing minimal or no pain treatment using rotary endodontics. Root canal treatment is required if the tooth has severe infection causing continuous or intermittent sharp pain within the tooth, if there is severe gum infection causing toothache, if the tooth is fractured and pulp is injured. Symptoms indicating the need for RCT includes severe toothache, pain with cold or hot food and drinks or both, pain on biting, pain due to fracture of tooth, swollen gums near the tooth etc. If any of these are present, visit dentist soon.

Root Canal Treatment

While a root canal procedure may sound daunting, it is a routine and highly successful treatment option for saving infected or damaged teeth. It can help in:

  • Alleviating pain
  • Restoring dental function
  • Preventing the need for tooth extraction.

Benefits of Rotary Endodontics

Enhanced efficiency: Rotary instruments have a cutting edge making them more efficient at removing infected or damaged pulp tissue from the root canals. This can result in a quicker and more streamlined root canal procedure.

Precise shaping: It allows more precise shaping of the root canals and ensures that the canals are thoroughly cleaned and adequately prepared for filling.

Reduced procedural time: Rotary endodontics can significantly reduce the time required for root canal treatment. The efficient cutting action of the instruments allows for faster removal of infected tissue and debris, leading to shorter treatment appointments.

Enhanced patient comfort: Rotary instruments are designed to be more flexible and maneuverable than traditional hand files. This can result in reduced stress on the tooth and surrounding tissues, leading to a potentially more comfortable experience for the patient.

Improved outcomes: The use of rotary endodontics has been associated with improved success rates in root canal treatments. The more effective cleaning and shaping of the canals help eliminate bacteria and prevent reinfection.

The Bottom Line

It’s normal to experience some discomfort or sensitivity after a root canal procedure, but this can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. Our dentist will provide instructions on post-treatment care and any necessary follow-up appointments.
